What's new?
I had a great time at the ARSC conference in Santa Barbara -- check out the home page of Nauck's Vintage Records for a photo of those of us who were at the first "Archeoclub" Meeting.
Now I'm looking forward to the 27th Annual Phonograph and Music Box Show and Sale in Union, Illinois.  I'll be there on Saturday.  Hopefully there'll still be something left to see by then! Phonozoic's latest online picks: listen to Shawn Borri's rendition of Uncle Josh Buys a Computer, and watch demonstrations of tinfoil and wax cylinder recording and playback (.dat format) featuring
Pluethipol Prachumphol, Charley Hummel, and Jean-Paul Agnard.

John Philip Sousa,
The Menace of Mechanical Music
The latest addition to our archive of classic texts in phonographic history is the March King's famous 1906 essay in which he popularized the phrase canned music -- although he didn't coin the term, which had already been used by O. Henry in the 1903 short story "The Phonograph and the Graft."  Phonozoic's version is unabridged and comes complete with nine amusing illustrations!

The Phonograph Ring
We've been linking phonograph enthusiasts on the web since 1998, and we're happy to see that WebRing is once again independent of Yahoo!

The Antique Phonograph and Gramophone Thai Society
is currently full of Christmas spirit -- to see what the girl in the picture above is dreaming about, visit http://www.talkingmachine.org/Pluethipol Prachumphol and the APGTS have been undertaking some exciting projects lately -- for example, a CD of rare center-start Path้ discs of Siamese music (contact them for details).  The APGTS is doing a valuable service in making the sounds of the early Siamese recording industry available worldwide!

Thanks also to Pluethipol Prachumphol for bringing our logo to life....
